Reading Diary A: Folklore of Laos

A Child of The Woods

  • The Woman at young age grew hatred towards her own people so she fled her village.
  • She then went to the woods unafraid of the beasts and danger
  • There a tiger protected her at night and she was as if at home living in the woods
  • Then after a while she had cooled off and went back to her people
  • She told them of the wonders and the people were in wonder and gave her gifts and riches
The Enchanted Mountain 

  • The enchanted mountain has fruits bigger and better looking then any other man grown fruit
  • The water there when drank fills you with life
  • There hunters can not kill any animals because there arrows instead of piercing fall harmlessly to the ground.
  • The spirits protect the lives of all the living there
  • Man can not believe unless he sees with his eyes and tastes with his tongue.
  • Only children believe of this place
The Spirit Guarded Cave

  • A people of great riches were endangered because of their wealth
  • So they left their riches in cave guarded by spirits
  • Most of the people died off and were unable to retrieve their riches
  • Many people across the world heard of these riches and tried to retrieve them but had failed because of the spirits
  • Not even the white man was bale to get to the riches so the treasury will forever remain there
